General description

Xarec is the trade name of a new syndiotactic polystrene (SPS) with such desirable characteristics such as high heat resistance, chemical resistance, and outstanding dielectric properties.  Despite the crystalline nature, Xarec has good dimensional stability.  Xarec can be processed on any conventional injection molding machine equipped with a standard abrasion resistant screw and cylinder.

Xarec 'WA' Grades

Formulated with a range of glass filler levels, these injection molding grades of Xarec offer an exceptional combination of heat, chemical, and hydrolytic stability.  Typical applications are automotive, appliance, and electronic, where compliance with UL 94 flammability requirements is not a concern.  Rubber modification of WA210, WA212, and WA552 improves the ductility of these formulations while WA214LG and WA550 offer the highest level of dimensional stability and chemical resistance of any of the Xarec grades.

Xarec 'EA' Grades

Offering the ability to comply with the most stringent UL 94 flammability requirements, the Xarec 'EA' products offer a cost effective means to take advantage of the value that a styrenic product can offer your electronic and electrical applications— superior electrical insulation and durability.  A standard range of glass filler levels is offered with the EA522, EA533, and EA543 products, while the EA537 and EA513 offer improved performance capabilities for the most demanding applications at a standard 30% glass loading.

Xarec 'N WA' Grades

Offering more strength and ductility than the 'WA' grades, the 'N WA' grades have been formulated with Nylon 66 to create a unique blend that offers strength and ductility in the complex tool designs frequently encountered underhood in automotive USCAR Class 3 and 4 environments.  The N WA7020-02 and N WA7030-02 offer 20% and 30% glass filler levels while the N WA5030 has been formulated to deliver a higher level of dimensional stability.

Standard grades offer compliance with UL 94 VO @ 1.5mm, other grades meet 5VA requirements (1.5mm, 2.0mm, & 2.4mm) and VO @ 0.75mm.  Electrical benefits include excellent tracking resistance and high breakdown voltages.

Xarec 'N WA' Grades

Improvements in the ductility of the 'WA' grades through the addition of Nylon 66 make it easier to design flexible features like snap-fits into components.  The increased strength of these formulations, combined with Xarec's hydrolytic stability, allows compliance with the aggressive USCAR Class 3 and 4 requirements for automotive connectors.
